Tree Service Professionals Liability Insurance

When it comes to tree service, do we really need to say a lot about the need for liability coverage?  It’s not a matter of if, but when something is going to go wrong.  When you’re dealing with heavy sometimes uncontrollable objects up high where gravity is your friend, and your enemy… it’s unpredictable at best.  If you’ve been in business for more than 5 minutes you know that liability insurance is not only a necessary evil, but more than likely required by law.  Now, what coverage do you need and how much?  That actually depends on a lot of factors.  How much is this a part of your business, or is it your whole business?  How many clients do you need to protect?  How many workers are representing your company?  How much could go wrong and how much can you get sued for?  Basically… What is the risk?

Determining the amount of exposure and risk is the first step in determining what coverage you need and how much.  The biggest mistake people make is not being educated on their policy or coverage.  If you don’t know where you’re covered and where you’re not you are taking a very big gamble with your assets that you’ve worked hard to get.    And no one out there doubts that your profession is hard work.  The best advice I can give any insured person or company, besides having insurance, is to know how you’re insured.  If you get a quote that is too good to be true, it probably is.  When I owned a landscaping and tree service company, I was thrilled to pay for good coverage.  It meant that I had the best chance possible of keeping what I was working so hard to get.  Clients who don’t pay may be frustrating, but losing everything because of a lawsuit is way worse.  If you need coverage, call me.  If you have questions about your policy or coverage you can call me, too.  Know your policy… inside and out, that’s my advice.
