Pest Control Applicators Liability Insurance

We all know that pests are unwanted plants, animals, insects, germs or other organisms that interfere with human activity. They may bite, destroy food crops, damage property, or otherwise make our lives more difficult.  But when it comes to owners and applicators liability insurance, getting rid of pests is the easy part.  The expertise and comfort you provide is what makes you valuable to your customers.  If you hold a chemical applicators license you are more than likely required by law to have liability insurance, due to the fact that used incorrectly or perhaps outside of unknown conditions there is a high possibility to cause harm.  No one intends to, but the possibility and probability over an extended period of time becomes more likely.

Having the peace of mind that you are going to be covered if and when something does happen comes from knowing and understanding your policy.  Too often I see where a certain price expectation on a policy means that lines and coverage get cut out, leaving the insured exposed and open to frivolous or even legitimate lawsuits.  Just the price of hiring an attorney to review and prepare the case would have more than likely paid for the policy.  If you think about it, you are basically lumping yourself in with a lot of other applicators, of whom only a small fraction will end up in court this year.  All together you help pay their costs, and if it’s you, they help pay your costs.  Not having to foot the whole bill for a costly defense is where the peace of mind comes in.

If you are an applicator who works for someone, there is a very good chance that you are not personally covered in their policy.  Again, the way to know this is to talk with their insurance expert and go over their policy very carefully.  The worst thing someone can do is assume that they are covered without finding out for sure.  Finding out that you’re not after a suit is filed is like getting into a car wreck, and then deciding to put your seatbelt on… by then, it’s too late.  Get educated on your coverage and your policy before that happens.  You work too hard to possibly lose everything you sweat for.  If you have questions or are confused about your coverage, call me and we’ll go over your policy point by point.  I’m here to help in any way I can!
